Dora Maclellan Brown Ministry Scholarship
The Dora Maclellan Brown Ministry Scholarships are one of the most unique in the country. Named in honor and memory of the founder of The Generosity Trust, these scholarships have been awarded since 1965 to students from the greater Chattanooga area who are studying for current or future ministry service. We currently have over 550 students who have received scholarships through the years who are serving the Lord throughout the United States and in many foreign countries.
Scholarships are available to theologically and Biblically conservative students who are taking classes or completing master’s degrees (no doctoral candidates) at a theological seminary, Bible College, or a seminary-like program at graduate school. This scholarship is for students who seek to work full or part-time in vocational Christian services. This includes pastoral ministry, Biblical counseling, international missions, and other similar outreaches. The student should call Chattanooga home (see guidelines below for a more in-depth description of this geographical restriction).
Grants are made from designated funds set aside each year by the Board of Directors of The Generosity Trust. Grants are paid directly to the school and are applied directly to the student’s account. Scholarships are awarded for the duration of the student’s time in that program – generally a two to three-year period. The deadline for the application is February 15th at 5:00 p.m. EST. The scholarship committee will meet in March to determine which applicants will be invited to an in-person interview. The interviews will be scheduled for early April.
The DMB Scholarship Committee HIGHLY recommends that you download and thoroughly read the Complete Guidelines before beginning your application journey. Hints and tips are contained in that document that will greatly assist you as your gather your information together for submission. Included in these guidelines are ideas you can give to those who will be writing your reference letters, as well as specific items the Committee would like to see in each area of your submission.
