TGT’s Disaster Relief Fund

We don’t have to tell you about the devastating loss our community suffered Easter Sunday night – you’ve seen the pictures and read the stories.  One of my friends suffered a triple loss Easter Sunday – had his house completely and utterly leveled; had significant damage to the school where he teaches (Grace Academy); and had more damage to his church (Grace Baptist).  He said he felt like Job, with wave after wave of news dumped upon him.
As I write this, my good friends at Samaritan’s Purse have rolled into town, looking to do what they do best – meet people in their time of need, identify churches responding to those needs, and work through the churches to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the people in need.  You never really like for SP to roll into your area – it means something bad has generally happened.  But I personally know of no other organization that does it better (yes – personal note – I worked for Franklin Graham and SP for seven years before I came to TGT).
What you probably didn’t know is that TGT has a special Disaster Relief Fund established – in fact, we established it after the devastating 2011 tornados in this area.
Just as our COVID Committee did in evaluating grant requests and responding to needs, our Disaster Relief Fund Outreach Committee will do the same:  evaluate needs, find those churches and Christian ministries responding to those needs, and make grants in Jesus’ name to meet the needs of those impacted.
If you would like to help TGT respond to needs in the Chattanooga area, it’s easy to do from Donor Central.  Here are the Steps to Provide Hope:
  1. Log into DonorCentral
  2. Select New Recommendation
  3. Select TGTCCCF as the recipient charity
  4. Enter Disaster Relief Fund in Grant Purpose
  5. TGT will then do an internal transfer from your fund to the Disaster Relief Fund, and begin to meet needs immediately.
Thank you for your response to those in need in Chattanooga.  You – our TGT family – are truly difference makers.
For the Kingdom,
Jim Barber
