July 2025 Community Spotlight
The Generosity Trust is pleased to share the incredible work being done by local ministries and non-profits. This month, we highlight local nonprofits ministering to young adults. Our local college campuses and schools are full of young adults finding their way in life. It’s a critical time when connection, kindness, and space for honest conversations form the character of the upcoming generation.
Nonprofit Highlight – One Hundred Years

One Hundred Years exists to transform the faith trajectory of each emerging generation. They believe young people are meant to experience a faith that lasts a lifetime, but too many are walking away from the church and their faith after they leave home. According to a study commissioned by the Pinetops Foundation, over 1 million young people are leaving the church and their faith every year, and a key reason is that they don’t feel a sense of belonging in their churches. If young people don’t feel like they belong, leaving seems inevitable.
They are on a mission to help churches and families build deep, Christ-centered relationships so that every young person knows they are seen and loved by God and truly belong in the body of Christ. They equip churches, parents, and grandparents to create intergenerational connections that foster a deep sense of belonging to God and his people through two key initiatives:
– The Pray for Me Campaign has been launched in 750+ churches, 47 states, and seven countries to mobilize intentional intergenerational prayer relationships that build profound belonging and connectedness for young people across generations. Each church commits to having believers from multiple generations pray for each student for one year using a Prayer Guide.
– The Youth Leader Collective has connected with, coached, and cared for youth ministry leaders since 1994. They create a safe place where youth leaders can share their struggles and build community, giving them the support and training they need to disciple the next generation effectively.

Nonprofit Highlight – The House

The House, whose mission is to bring college students to a deeper love and knowledge of Jesus Christ, has been introducing them to Jesus, helping them grow in their faith, and developing leaders in our city for over 30 years. College is a time when students are suddenly untethered and can feel unrooted. This is where The House steps in.
Unique to Chattanooga and based on the UTC campus, The House is an ecumenical ministry that welcomes from all backgrounds and works closely with dozens of local churches and nonprofits in our city. Key programs include:
– Weekly Worship: 150-250 students gather each week on the UTC campus for worship and biblical teaching.
– Pastoral Care: Leaders meet with 50-90 students each week for care and discipleship.
– Core Groups: 200+ students in small groups led by members of Christian churches all throughout the city for discipleship and community.
– Missions: 100+ students go with The House on one of 8 mission trips throughout the school year.
– Internships: Student and post-graduate internships are designed to teach the next generation how to make disciples of Jesus and help them grow as leaders.
– The Hub: A student center open 5 days a week (and 24/7 during finals) offering free snacks, coffee, prayer, study space, and a place to build community.
– Residence House: A community home for up to 12 young men near campus.
Through walking alongside students in authentic community and formation, The House equips them to be known and know Jesus.
Nonprofit Highlight – Cru

Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) is an inter-denominational campus ministry committed to outreach, discipleship, and training leaders on the campuses of UTC, Sewanee, and Lee University. Cru does not have their own building but prefers to meet students on their “turf” where they are comfortable – in student centers, dorms, and fraternities. Their vision is to reach students in college, where so much is swirling around them: competing worldviews, partying culture, the trap of isolation, and general brokenness. Cru steps in to meet students where they are.
Cru has a vision to “win, build, and send”:
– Win: Outreach on campus to expose students to the gospel. Cru meets students on campus and in fraternity houses for one-on-one outreach as well as larger scale events where they dig into deeper questions.
– Build: After students come to faith or get involved, they build into those students. Many students don’t have a great understanding of grace, have faced tremendous brokenness, or may be “cultural” Christians without an authentic faith. Through Bible Studies, one-on-one mentorship, large group worship, and yearly retreats, more than 400 students are discipled.
– Send: Cru trains students to share their own faith and become leaders both among their peers and for the future. They have mission opportunities during the school year and the summer, both in the U.S. and in other countries. Older, more mature students start their own student Bible studies to impact more of campus. Cru also works with Christian faculty to encourage and equip them in their role.
CRU continues to reach students where they are, making a long-term impact and forming disciples who make disciples.
