December 2025 Community Spotlight
December 2025 Community Spotlight
This month, we are highlighting local initiatives that support affordable housing. There are great opportunities for churches and individuals to help make a difference!
Earlier this year, the Maclellan Foundation, in collaboration with the City of Chattanooga, the Generosity Trust, and the Community Foundation, funded the launch of the Faith-Based Development Initiative (FBDI) in Chattanooga. You can read the article from the Times Free Press here.
FBDI is a program run by Enterprise, an Atlanta-based nonprofit dedicated to building affordable homes. Through its Faith-Based Development Initiative (FBDI), Enterprise has supported over 1,900 housing units nationwide, developed in partnership with houses of worship.
The FBDI program equips congregations to transform underutilized property into affordable housing. Enterprise has successfully implemented FBDI in cities such as Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and Miami, providing technical assistance, training, grants, and development consulting to help churches move from vision to groundbreaking.
Enterprise will host a launch event for the FBDI program on January 7th from 12:00 to 2:30 PM at the Downtown Library (4th Floor).
Attendees will hear from Enterprise staff, local partners, and peers who have already begun their own development journeys.
We would love to have as many people there as possible who are interested in learning more about how their church may partner with FBDI. Please register below!

How TGT is Helping
The Generosity Trust, through the TGT Generosity Fund, has made the following grants in 2025:
- $25k to the Enterprise Faith-based Development Initiative to support the initiative above.
- $25k to World Restoration Center Church to build duplexes that they will manage in the Alton Park area.
Additionally, we have been in conversations with local nonprofits and business owners, learning about their approaches to affordable housing, from building and maintaining dignified housing to supporting holistic asset-based community development.
If you are interested in contributing to the Generosity Fund, let us know! The more the fund grows, the more we can give away. Contribute to the Generosity Fund here.
