June 2025 Community Spotlight

The Generosity Trust is pleased to share the incredible work being done by local ministries and nonprofits. This month, we highlight local nonprofits focused on the integration of faith in the workplace. Billy Graham once said, “I believe one of the next great moves of God is going to be through the believers in the workplace.”

Nonprofit Highlight – Faith Co-Op

Many of us are disconnected from the reality that our work is part of God’s plan to redeem, renew, and bless his creation. A recent study by the Barna Group found that 72% of American Christians are uninformed or ill-informed about how their vocational pursuits are an integral part of their faith, and that only 53% of Christians feel their church supports and disciples them in their careers.

Faith Co-Op exists to help awaken Christians in Chattanooga to how their faith brings daily purpose. They desire for people to believe and be transformed by the fact that God cares not just for their souls, but the whole of their lives, including their work. Their focus is less about a personal walk with Jesus at work, but on how one’s walk with Jesus influences work.

Faith Co-Op serves through local gatherings, events, classes, in-depth fellowships, and online resources. They desire to create space for Christians to intentionally gather and collectively imagine what it means that their daily labor can be an act of worship to God and a blessing to the city.

They have 5 distinct programs:

The upcoming Main + Market Fellows program, a 9-month discipleship program that equips participants to engage their work in light of the gospel for the flourishing of our city.

   – Regular Lunch and Learns

   – Faith and Work 101: a course for churches and small groups that gives participants a basic theological foundation for God’s design and purpose in our work

   – Chattanooga Fellows: a nine-month Christian leadership program equipping college grads to live out their faith in life

   – Faith Driven Entrepreneur and Investor: gatherings for entrepreneurs and investors who want to learn from one another and fulfill their calling to create and steward

Faith Co-Op also has a podcast and blog highlighting stories of faithful women and men in Chattanooga who are honoring God with their unique passions and skills through their work.

    Nonprofit Highlight – CBMC

Christian Business Men’s Connection (CBMC) has a local ministry area and also houses its national headquarters in Chattanooga. CBMC connects with other men in the marketplace who are serious about growing in their faith, impacting others, and living lives of significance. Their mission is to present Christ as Savior and Lord to men in the workplace, and to develop them to carry out the Great Commission: making disciples who make disciples. With more than a dozen gatherings each week touching a couple hundred men across the Chattanooga area, they are essentially local missionaries to local businessmen.

CBMC Chattanooga has a variety of ways to get involved and connected so men can engage with and share their faith in the workplace. They focus on evangelism and discipleship with those who work in professional roles, entrepreneurs who run their own businesses, and former or current executives. Through evangelism, their goal is to foster neutral, low-risk environments for men to invite other professional men to fellowship, lunch, or to play golf and hear the gospel. Discipleship focuses on 1:1 outreach to men to share the gospel, support them in their daily walk with Christ, and challenge them to grow in their faith. Here are some of their programs:

       – 1:1 relational discipleship (coffee, lunch, and family gatherings) built around a variety of studies or programs, including Operation Timothy (celebrating 50 years!)

       – Connect 3 Groups: 6-10 men meet over early breakfast or lunch to pray, fellowship, study scripture, and to build accountability, decreasing anxiety and isolation.

       – Trusted Advisor Forums: (Counterpart of Vistage in the secular world). Intentional roundtable discussions of business owners who meet monthly with an intentional time of spiritual development and time for peer advising.

       – Young Professionals Peer Advisory Group: A peer-based group designed specifically for men 25-40 to connect with other seasoned business professionals, grow together in Christ, and integrate their faith and vocational calling.

CBMC attended the 2025 Chattanooga Area Leadership Prayer Breakfast

Men’s biggest enemy is often busyness, and CBMC offers opportunities to make space and create margin for intentional growth. Learn more about CBMC and check out their upcoming events here

Nonprofit Highlight – Scenic City Women’s Network

Founded 30 years ago, Scenic City Women’s Network (SCWN) is a non-denominational nonprofit established in prayer, the chief distinguishing factor from other civic or professional groups. Their mission is to Encourage, Equip, and Energize Christian business and professional women. SCWN offers women a sense of belonging to God and each other, equips them to develop spiritual maturity, and energizes them to bless others.

Today, women struggle greatly to balance family, faith and career. Too often, they cannot participate in the life of their church due to time and proximity. It is this 9 to 5 window where SCWN meets women. They offer some of the following programs and events:

       – Monthly Luncheons featuring an inspirational professional speaker

       – Weekly marketplace Bible studies

       – Annual Praise Breakfast, open to the community, drawing around 600-700 attendees

       – Annual Leadership Symposium: “God’s Running Your Business, Are You On Board?”

       – 9/11: A Day of Remembrance

Finally, SCWN is centered around prayer and has a 100+ member Prayer Team who faithfully intercede on behalf of women and the community!  Join an upcoming luncheon to learn more about SCWN. You can learn more about their programs and upcoming events here.
