On May 5, 2020, we come together as a global community.

To give.   To help.   To thank.   To heal.

#GivingTuesdayNow is a global emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. On May 5, 2020, people around the world will stand together in generosity and connect with others. Since “Generosity” is our middle name at The Generosity Trust, we encourage you to show God’s love to others this coming Tuesday. Sharing the message of Biblical Generosity is an essential part of what we do at TGT.

In early March, just before we began to shelter in place, TGT had the opportunity to bring a noted speaker and author, Jan Harrison, back to her hometown of Chattanooga to share a message on Biblical generosity. In her talk, “Partnering with a Generous God,” Jan spoke about gratitude as the seed that begins generosity. This gratitude is the understanding and revelation that God has His hand on our lives. He pours His favor and blessing into each of us. It is through that seed of gratitude that we are motivated to help others during times of crisis.  Jan challenged the audience “to begin to walk that out in your daily life that seed of gratefulness and that seed will begin to grow into generosity.”

As we join with other organizations not only throughout Chattanooga but also around the world for #GivingTuesdayNow, we encourage you to celebrate generosity by connecting with others. Simple acts of kindness allow you to extend God’s love to others. Whether you give your voice, your goods, your time, or your money, Tuesday, May 5, is a day to join people all over the globe to help those in need.

And as part of #GivingTuesdayNow, we want to say thank you to our donors and friends for the outpouring of support of two recently established funds created in response to COVID-19 and the April tornado in Chattanooga. Contributions to these funds are assisting frontline ministries and churches that are meeting people at their point of need and sharing God’s love with them.

We appreciate your partnership as we come alongside those working as the hands and feet of Christ in these most extraordinary days.

Gratefully,

Jim Barber
