What is breaking God’s heart that is also breaking yours? We ask our donors that all the time. Very often we hear topics like the need for more Bible translation, teaching, preaching, and distribution; foster care and adoption; evangelism; church planting; economic empowerment; homelessness; affordable housing. We willingly journey alongside our generous donors who are passionate about releasing the resources God has entrusted to them to address these needs.
Here are three ways The Generosity Trust helps donors align their money with their mission:
1. We keep the main thing the main thing. Using our signature Giving Fund, donors are able to make a contribution and receive an immediate tax deduction. Afterwards, they can recommend grants at their discretion. Simplicity is at its finest, with no cost to donors!
Many faithful donors use mainstream donor-advised funds hosted by large brokerage houses. However, they don’t realize that these institutions have and can restrict their granting activity. For example, a donor-driven foundation could decide to restrict any grants being directed to organizations that fail to meet their diversity and inclusion standards.
At The Generosity Trust, faith-based donors can have peace of mind that their funds will be available for granting to their church and other favorite ministries that share their values. Our staff and board of directors share the same values as our donors.
2. We convene donors around common affinities. You are not alone! There are others who share a passion about causes that are important to you. We have circles of donors who share common interests, whether it’s our women’s giving circle or our group for young givers. We also have opportunities to connect with donors who have a heart for underrepresented and under-resourced people.
As generous donors use The Generosity Trust to facilitate their giving, they will discover the benefits are far more than financial. Because our Foundation has been active and serving in Chattanooga for decades, we are uniquely positioned to serve as a connector between donors and non-profit organizations doing important work. We are increasingly mobilized toward getting to know the hearts of our donors in order to make more natural connections with great organizations!
Every year, we bring attention to nonprofits of all sizes. We even help donors engage in collaborative giving. Donors pool their resources and make large grants to accelerate the impact of organizations. It is our privilege to establish, support, and facilitate various collaborations among our donors.
3. We enable donors to give all types of assets. Though cash remains one of the primary assets people give, it is still only one type of asset. At The Generosity Trust, we understand that our donors typically have appreciated assets like stocks, bonds, real estate, and privately held businesses. We work closely with financial advisors and estate planning professionals to make sure our donors can maximize their tax-deductible gifts. Additionally, financial advisors can continue managing these assets until the donor is ready to recommend a grant.
Your heart and mission are important to us. It is an honor and privilege to serve kingdom-minded individuals and businesses who want to see their financial resources put to good work around the world. Let us start a conversation with you today!
